Jean Echenoz, one of France’s most acclaimed contemporary authors, presents his latest novel, centred on Robert Bristol, a B-movie director whose life is marked by precarious relationships and numerous failures.
Through an interplay of cinema, fiction and illusion, Echenoz adopts cinematic techniques to explore the very nature of creation, understood as the construction of a world of illusions and enchantment.
In conversation with Giorgio Pinotti, Editor-in-Chief of Adelphi.
French writer. His works published by Adelphi include Ravel (2007), Il mio editore (2008), Correre (2009), Lampi (2012), ’14 (2014) and Inviata speciale (2018). Bristol was published in France in 2025.
Part of the Le Voci dei Libri series, in collaboration with Coop Alleanza 3.0.
6.30 pmNicola Lagioia returns to the South where he was born, through the codes of the family saga. In Capurso the lives of two families intertwine with the stories of a community moving from the certainty of poverty to the mirage of wealth.
9 pmPsychiatrist and psychoanalyst Vittorio Lingiardi reflects on the most fragile and vital places of existence: love and betrayal, body and illness, memory and loss. An autobiography in verse that finds its measure in the relationship with others.
6.30 pmDaniela Facchinato retraces the life of Massimo Osti, a “designer of function” rather than a stylist, who revolutionised menswear with garment dyeing and experimental materials. An intimate, choral journey, told through friends and collaborators, into the Bologna of the 1970s and 1980s.
6.30 pmMatteo Nucci retraces Plato’s life through the places, encounters and loves that shaped it: a human portrait in which eros guides the search for justice and happiness. The book was one of the six finalists for the 2026 Strega Prize.
6.30 pmWhat happens when fashion meets the body? Maria Luisa Frisa reads clothes as cultural devices that generate identities, desires and imaginaries, and shows that the body is never given once and for all, but constantly negotiated and rewritten.
6.30 pmMarco Antonio Bazzocchi reconstructs the apartment at Via Fondazza 36 in Bologna, where Giorgio Morandi lived and worked with his sisters from 1930 to 1964: the studio, the objects, the kitchen, the light. Not today’s museum, but the home as it was.
