In an age marked by artificial intelligence, global crises and unprecedented scientific transformations, Maria Chiara Carrozza invites us to reflect on what it means today to invest in research and knowledge.
Drawing on her experience as a researcher and as a key figure in scientific institutions, from experimental physics to biorobotics, she explores the many values of knowledge, cultural, economic, democratic and human, and speaks above all to the younger generations, called upon to build a new pact between knowledge and society.
In conversation with Silvia Bencivelli, science journalist, writer and radio and television presenter.
Full Professor of Bioengineering and Biorobotics at the University of Milan-Bicocca. She was the first woman President of the CNR, Minister for Education, Universities and Research and Rector of the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa.
Pandora Rivista.
6.30 pmThe United States has the American Dream; Italy, admired around the world, struggles to imagine its own future. Alec Ross, an American with Italian roots, combines personal stories with an analysis of the country’s cultural, economic and social knots, neither idealising nor condemning it.
6.30 pmWhat happens when fashion meets the body? Maria Luisa Frisa reads clothes as cultural devices that generate identities, desires and imaginaries, and shows that the body is never given once and for all, but constantly negotiated and rewritten.
6.30 pmMarco Antonio Bazzocchi reconstructs the apartment at Via Fondazza 36 in Bologna, where Giorgio Morandi lived and worked with his sisters from 1930 to 1964: the studio, the objects, the kitchen, the light. Not today’s museum, but the home as it was.
6.30 pmPhysicist and science writer Devis Bellucci guides us through the pitfalls of statistical analysis: the spurious correlations that abound in the media, what clinical trials really prove, and how science guards against the whims of chance.
6.30 pmIn the Anthropocene, we are destroying the past to build the present. Archaeologist Federico Zaina, head of Collection and Research at the Museo Egizio in Turin, takes us to places on Earth as significant as they are now inaccessible.
6.30 pmCaught between the power of technology and the economy and the resistance of the great sovereign powers, Kaos becomes the very shape of the world. Massimo Cacciari and Roberto Esposito hold a philosophical dialogue on global disorder and on the orders possible today.
